Although there have been a few issues with the house (leaking roof, flooding garage, rotten deck) I can't imagine living in a more idyllic place. These geese and their chubby little goslings spent the afternoon foraging for food in the backyard:
And every morning I open my eyes to this lovely sight:

WOW this is amazing, you really have this as a view? When I read you bio saying central New York, (I have never been to America) I thought New York as I see in the movies! Not lakes and sunsets. LOL, does your hubby work from home or can he commute from such surroundings?
Emily - that is beautiful! you lucky duck.
Joann, New York is a really big state, and we live about 4 hours northwest of New York City. Kevin's office isn't in NYC, it's in a smaller city upstate. We live about 15 miles away from Syracuse, a city of about 150,000 people, in a small lakeside town. For me, New York is not skyscrapers and yellow cabs, it's country roads, forests and lakes (with a few rednecks thrown in for good measure!)
Vic, thanks! Hopefully you'll be getting an awesome view of the Atlantic or of cute old buildings in Stavanger in your new place! Emily
Joanne's right---WOW! Emily, you live in such a beautiful place. I'm floored. How cool to live right on a lake. Do you guys kayak or canoe? You're in the perfect place for it! Any homes around there for sale? ;-)
Michele, there are in fact 2 houses in the neighborhood for sale right now. A very cute 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom on a huge lakefront lot just 6 or 7 houses down from us, and a beautiful cedar shake 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom lakefront house around the corner from us. How excited would I be if I actually thought you were serious about moving here?
Kevin does have a kayak and we plan to buy a little 2 person sailboat in the not too distant future. I'm most excited about just being able to swim every day this summer--hopefully the lake isn't full of leeches or anything scary! Emily
Beautiful! You are indeed lucky!
Spectacular picture..as usual..didn't even notice the power lines..they look like part of the horizon shadow lines..lol
That's a gorgeous view, Emily! Now that you're back in the States, it would be awesome if we could get together one of these months. Maybe you and Kevin could meet my fiancee and I in Albany or something...? Drop me a line at brenhow at mac.com if you get a chance.

Hi Em,
Yes, we had dinner at The Beach - Sylvan, that is, at the other end of the lake Friday and saw a magnificent sunset.
Great job with those kittens and at the Pet Expo. Please let me know what the adoption figures were and if somebody is coming to represent HSR at the NP meeting next Wed.
Robin
Keera, thanks!
Rosemary, yeah, I live here and see the stupid lines all the time, and I was also fooled at first and thought that they were part of a dramatic horizon...nope, just ugly power lines!
Brendan, congratulations on your engagement! I'm very happy for you!
Robin, our longest term cat from July was adopted at the expo, so that was awesome! I love these events and hope there will be another one soon!
Emily
