Overwhelmed

I blinked back the tears as I cast my vote today, I trembled as I watched the election coverage on TV this evening, and as I listened to President-Elect Obama's victory speech tonight, my heart soared. I have voted in other elections, but never have I believed in a candidate so much. I'm so proud of and hopeful for our country!

You've echoed my sentiments exactly. I am so excited and hopeful for America's future now!

For a while there, after Bush invaded Iraq, I completely lost my pride in the US, which was a completely new feeling for me. I'd always manage to support my home country no matter what - until then.

You know what's weird? Norwegians asking me if I was going to vote, assuming I'd vote for Obama and being quite pleased with me when I said yes. They've never discussed that sort of thing with me before. Obama has gotten everybody talking!

Hi Emily. I heard Obama's acceptance speech on BBC today and cried. What an amazing speaker he is. What an amazing day!

Keera, I've had many Norwegians talk to me about the election, too! They are as excited about it as I am and it feels really good to be part of something so international, so incredible. It's really cool.

Emily,
I remember when you, me, and Kevin sat in a bar in Chicago at a stop during the Gangster Tour...cheering as Gore won FL, and then a little while later were shocked when Gore lost FL to Bush. Crazy how much things have changed since then!
